Description
The president and founder of the International Shorin Ryu Karate Kobudo Federation is Grandmaster George W. Alexander. He is recognized as the “world pioneer of Shorin Ryu Karate”.
He began his training in 1964 while serving in the United States Marine Corps. His Marine Corps assignments allowed him to travel to the East, including mainland Japan, Okinawa, and Southeast Asia.
He began training in Shorin Ryu Karate in 1964 while working at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. He quickly gained a reputation as a rugged fighter in the Marine Corps. During his career he has trained with a number of notable masters. He made a point of looking for the best instructors.
A decorated veteran, he served as a team leader for the US Navy’s Third Force, Reconnaissance Company in Vietnam. In 1967 and 1968, while stationed in Dong Ha, Vietnam, he led teams in the jungle that collected intelligence.
He has since become a popular and uniquely qualified instructor with international teaching experience and credentials. He traveled extensively to spread the teachings of Shorin Ryu Karate.
