Jinxed by Peter Turner
This new DVD set is Peter Turner\’s latest and most practical work presented to the magic community. Like much of its material, it is not intended for everyone.
Only 700 sets will be produced.
If you\’ve ever tried to get your hands on Peter Turner\’s material, you\’ll know how his study materials sell out in record time only to become a massive collector\’s item, as mentalists struggle to access rare specimens that change hands from time to time. .
How do you define genius thinking in magic? It is the ability to hold all current thoughts in a research area and then get out of it to create new methods or approaches that have such a big creative leap that they can change the direction of thinking in that area. Peter Turner embodies this ability. His methods are creative and bold, and his execution is impeccable. It really provides an experience that will stay with them forever.
Jinxed is Peter\’s modern take on Annemann\’s main work in mentalism. If you are serious about developing your mentalism skills, now is your chance to add Peter Turners \’ knowledge to your collection.
Questions and answers
Is this material practical in the real world?
Yes, this is one of the reasons why Peter Turner is so respected. He doesn\’t just talk. You will see his material in action, how he presents it, and how you do too.
Will I have to learn all of his routines to benefit from this training?
No. We think you probably will, but that\’s not the point. Jinxed is full of practical techniques that you can build into your current material if you don\’t want to add full routines. If you\’ve ever been lucky enough to see Peter lecture, you\’ll find out how mentalists come after the lecture and discuss how easy it would be to integrate his techniques into your current material.
Is it difficult to master?
Like everything that is really worth learning, you will need to practice. However, Peter\’s style is organic and talkative.
Jinxed is a connection with people, as well as a mechanical secret technique. Peter\’s style makes learning and performing seem natural and easy.
If you are new to mentalism, this is a great way to develop your performance style, which will influence your training and improve it throughout your future training sessions.
Jinxed is without a doubt one of the most important and long-awaited releases in the field of mentalism, finally here.
Name Peter Turner among a group of mentalists or mind readers, and any conversation will stop there. You immediately attract everyone\’s attention. Why is that?
Peter made a name for himself in the magic community not only as a unique performer, but also as a devilish thinker.
Peter has a certain way of handling words. If you want your performances to become legendary stories told by non-professionals and be remembered forever, then listen to everything this person has to say. Considered one of the most influential mentalists of our time, he has advised countless projects for television and the stage.

DVD 1
* Q & a (3/10):
This effect is a weak discovery, but even more so if you are not new to mentalism. There is nothing new or that has not yet been explained in the section \”Practical mental effects – using env ******* s by Annemann himself\”. The rest is just Peter playing and a lot of talking.
Download Peter Turner – Jinxed on Avaicourse.com
* The equation of life (8/10):
Very decent and elegant effect. Definitely my favorite DVD 1 and one of the few I would probably use with some tweaks here and there, so the methodology doesn\’t become obvious, otherwise it can\’t be repeated for the same group twice.
Also, there is no explanation regarding performing this for the stage, so I assume it can only be done for one-on-one mentalism.
* Rosie Red (4/10):
Even though the performance looks amazing and the concept isn\’t bad, there\’s a BIG catch – and it\’s obviously being recorded. You might as well use any other kind of p ** K device and do your job looking much more fair to the audience.
Later, he discusses Slate # 2, which is not a bad idea anyway, but is completely unreliable for anyone who is skeptical, and it\’s unreliable.
(like a lot of stuff on the DVD), so it takes away his points.
Besides, Peter talks more: \”If I don\’t lose, it doesn\’t matter,\” and I doubt you\’d honestly want to say that at your paid concerts all the time.
DVD 1-average rating = 5/10
* Finger Finger (2/10):
I would call it more than \”Finger Finger\” as \”Filler Filler\”. Just some very well-known old shit applied to the effect, nothing completely new, and like most of the DVD material, it can fail in most cases.
There is nothing more to say about this, it would be better not to include the DVD. Of course, Peter, as usual, says that he doesn\’t care about failures, but I wonder if your audience would really be happy with performers failing all the time, I think not.
* Fortune-telling on cigarettes (5/10):
The method of what is shown in the video presentation is so obvious that it first occurred to me as soon as I saw it. Of course, the audience can\’t see anything.
Peter suggests manipulating an imaginary cigarette box that falls 50% of the time with an unsubstantiated procedure that makes it work half the time you try it.
Not everything that shines is gold.
* Lock keys (2/10):
Although the premise of the effect is interesting, the method consists of two parts: the first is reliable and explained in books on classical mentalism, and the second part is completely unreliable.
Another one with a great presentation that ends up being disappointing.
* Plate and number (9/10):
The closer is a nice routine that depends very much on the DR, it\’s quite risky as you play with the perception of multiple participants, but it\’s a very well-designed effect that I liked overall. The best effect from the second DVD for sure.
DVD 2-average rating = 4.5 / 10
Overall rating = 2.4 / 5
* Conclusion
It seems that this whole phrase \”Mentalism is not about method, but about representation\” was taken too seriously by people like Peter, who released a bunch of effects here that don\’t match the exaggeration of this DVD or the title of the original book \”Practical mental effects\”, since I doubt that the effects presented are practical, if at all, let\’s hope that for the sake of mentalism, it doesn\’t become a trend.
At almost $ 200, I would recommend staying away from this and either buying the original book from Annemann, or even Richard Osterlind\’s 6-set DVDs, you\’ll learn a lot more from his years of experience.

Seven performances on JINXED are performed with strangers on the street or in Greek establishments, and explanations of the effects are back in Titanas Magic with Vangelis Haralampus.
The DVD is split into parts, so you can \”play it all\” or just view the effects individually. If you select \”play all\”, this preview will also include an introduction and prologue. The explanations that follow each trick are more than just \”how to do\” but rather a \”behind-the-scenes\” theory about Peter\’s skill and how he came up with his ideas. Behind the scenes are discussed: confidence building, Gypsy look, multiple exits, courage, invisible power, updating the old, combining methods, versatility, views, mixing principles, Annemann plot, cipher #1, cipher #2 and much more .. …
Volume 1
0. Prologue (15:09) Peter and Vangelis talking about the filming of \”the Titans\”. Peter creates his premise for the DVD set and his appreciation for Theodore Annemann. The point of these tricks on JINXED is that you will basically learn how Peter presents this classic. So don\’t expect to \”learn\” any new methods of revelation on these DVDs. And I would say that 90% of the magic that comes from these effects – the \”reason\” why they look \”magical\” – is Peter\’s presentation and his ability to work with strangers.
In other words, usually with these new DVDs, you get excited when you buy them because you want to understand the \”how\” and you hope that this \” how \” will help you. Peter doesn\’t give you a new \”how\”, he gives you his approach and his view of many effects that you have discarded as \”outdated\” or \”impossible\”.
For Peter, it\’s not about \”how\” he does it, it\’s about \”why\” he does it and how it relates to his game.
To be honest, I\’m willing to bet that some people will be disappointed that there aren\’t any more amazing revelations here. But I think if people really want to explore the content of what Peter is trying to convey, it\’s really an argument to revisit the books on your bookshelf and not abandon the classic effects because they seem to use an outdated element. Peter puts it all away and asks: \”Why did it work-THEN – and how could it work now?\” What is behind the THING?
For example, I once read in a book by Carl Fulves a mentalist routine where the Magi leave the room, then go to the bedroom and close the door so that guests at his house can choose a random item. The\” secret \”was that the Magi looked through the keyhole and saw what \”object\” in the room the guests of the house chose. I could have dismissed this effect and said, \” Well, there are no more keyholes in the doors of houses to see through.\” True, but … what is the principle? Be able to \”spy\” on a room. What would we do in today\’s culture? Install a nanny Cam! Put a hidden camera in there and the channel will go straight to your bedroom!

One last thing: since these tricks involve mentalism and mind reading, these effects are more for hoppers or magicians, rather than those who do magic for friends and family.
1. Question and answer (Presentation 9: 27 / Explanation 17: 31) / a hybrid of \”Practical mental effects\” where Peter guesses a written answer sealed in a stack of envelopes.
Overview: masterful with Peter\’s hands, Peter combines cold reading with the method of divination, using a \”secret\” that is already known to most novice mentalists.
2. the Equation of life (performance 6: 02 / explanation 25: 18) uses a cell phone calculator to guide the viewer through a series of special numbers to arrive at the personal integer that the magician later predicted.
Review: hybrid from 202 Methods of Forcing. Again, another very familiar method. I think this trick was in my very first book on magic for beginners in the 1950s. (Simple tricks for the young magician of the green) As in the previous effect , you study Peter\’s routine and watch as the master creates these classic pieces for the modern era.
3. Rosie red (Performance 2: 43 / Explanation 47: 05) is a prediction effect that requires an audience.
Review: reworking the effect from Practical Mental Effects. Admittedly, when I learned Peter\’s method for this effect, it was kind of disappointing – it\’s not an effect I would have done – but what I liked was explanation after explanation. In the next video, Peter talks about the many techniques of ambiguity and coercion.
Volume 2
1. Finger Finger (Performance 4: 37 / Explanation 12: 41) improvised number guessing game.
Review: variation of the jinx effect. It doesn\’t seem like a \”trick\” at first, and Peter doesn\’t sell it as such, more than it\’s a way to establish rapport with the audience. But if it hits , it hits BIG
2. fortune Telling on cigarettes (performance 2: 37 / Explanation 17: 02) the Viewer takes out an arbitrary number of cigarettes, and you can determine how many they took out.
Overview: a variation of \”jinx\”, originally made with matches, a wonderful foresight effect that anyone who practices bar magic or cigarette magic will instantly implement into their routine.
3. Lock and keys (performance 4: 12 / Explanation 13: 11) Peter guesses the recorded mobile phone unlock key from a series of cards.
Review: Peter\’s view of Annemann\’s \” Seven keys to Baldpate \”and Henry Fisher\’s\” Lock and keys\”. A cell phone trick based on a method developed before the invention of the phone.
4. Tablet and number (performance 24: 10 / Explanation 7:12) Peter performs this with three viewers guessing numbers, pictures, and birthdays.
Review: missed effect from Practical Mental Effects. Peter develops a beautiful daily routine that you can follow with a group of people – easily more intimate, which will strengthen you as an intellectual savant.
End of review (5: 04 min)\” This is for me a bit about telepathy, not so much about empathy \” Peter Turner.
My advice is to buy the book \”Practical psychic effects\” along with this DVD.

I\’ve been a big fan of Peter Turner for the last year or so and bought a few of his books and another DVD set. Jinxed was a bit of a disappointment for the price. Peter is a creative and original thinker who combines several methods and very smart presentations. But some of the effects in Jinxed look a bit far-fetched, especially on disc 2. Not as natural as in some earlier releases (Devil in Disguise). In fact, I think Peter Turner\’s penguin lecture is a much better presentation with more impressive effects and thinking.

It\’s a good idea to take Annemann\’s work, it still works, the procedures are fine, the views are interesting, but nothing new, Peter Turner talks too much and mixes stock reading, astrology …, a lot of words, sorry, this is too much, his earlier releases were much stronger, especially Devil in disguises,
I am very sorry to write about this, I think he is a nice and charismatic person, but better less, Yes better!

I\’ve personally been a fan of Peter Turner for a VERY long time. Jinxed IMO is absolutely brilliant! Peter always comes up with REAL-world material that represents an Arsenal of gold. It gives you and me the tools to go out and KILL in the real world. For me, this is my favorite purchase of the year so far. Get it while you can, before they\’re all gone !! Believe me, you will not regret it !!

I\’m so glad I bought this. I have a few Pete\’s products that are limited, and there\’s always something that shocks me. This product is full of practical useful effects that seem real.
Recommended for serious mentalists.

5 * material, 2 * price … Report this review

First of all, I would like to say that I own Pete\’s freeform mentalism, and none of the material is repeated on these DVDs. There\’s a lot of modern stuff here (even if it\’s Annemann stuff) that will work in the real world. you can use many effects to shoot women. I know this sounds like buying corn, if you ever wanted to stand out from the herd, this would be a great way to do it.
these DVDs, I would give an easy and well-deserved rating of 5 *, but such a high price is simply absurd. $ 90 for a DVD is crazy. at this price, it should be on blu-ray and signed by Pete …
p. s. if you are new to mentalism, stay away. go with Marc Spellmanns download.

Let me start by saying that I already own most of Pete\’s work and I\’m a big fan of His views on mind reading. The effects on the DVD are great, but I liked Pete and Titanas talking the most, because I think that\’s when you really learn how to get better at performing and maybe even better, lol. Thanks to Peter and Titanas for the project and thanks to Penguin for the ultra-fast delivery to the UK.

Peter Turner\’s material is always great, but the Jinxed DVD is on a new level. It teaches amazing effects, explaining every nuance. But even his offhand comments are gold. I don\’t see how anyone could not watch this and be a much better performer and mentalist. I will get this before this limited edition is no longer available.

WOW! Peter Turner is doing it again! Every time I think I know what I\’m doing … Peter turns around and says: \”Wait, there\’s more.\” This is a great DVD set. I will use many effects for this. I highly recommend this product. In fact, I highly recommend everything that Peter Turner produces.
It would be helpful to get some of his books so you can understand how he thinks. All effects are checked and correct !!!!
