Hong-Gia, Hong-Gia Originally Goi La Phu Son, meaning once again, “the family of all Taoist ‘Kung Fu of Laufaushan Monastery'”. Laufaushan is a mountain in the “New Territories” of China, about fifteen miles NE of Kowloon and Hong Kong. Although the Chinese name is very similar to Hung Gar, the Shaolin style, the characters are different, and so is the style. Hong-Gia can be traced back to the Taoist gymnastics and great effort went through to ensure Dja là original keys, original secrets, and là là TECHNIQUES they were preserved and taught in the monastery.
These original exercises are believed to have developed in là Wu Chi, the progenitor of Tai Chi, Hsing-I and Pa Kua e. Current instructors strive to teach the same keys and techniques as the creators, but have broken the style in which areas of focus to help the student absorb the complex keys one part at a time, building on the rest. Each of the Nhung which areas of focus can be used as a complete self-defense system, to enhance other styles, or to complete all training in Hong-Gia.
