The Practical Reconciling Biomechanics with Pain Science course aims to equip therapists with information that simplifies the mechanical aspects of their treatment and enhances their communication and clinical reasoning skills. The course presents an alternative perspective to the kinesiopathological model of pain and injury, while still addressing the question of when biomechanics is relevant. Therapeutic neuroscience is covered, but without an overwhelming emphasis on neuroscience. Instead, the focus is on practical approaches to teach patients about pain, fostering resilience, optimism, and encouraging self-control of symptoms. Cognitive restructuring is emphasized to address common unhelpful beliefs related to pain and injury, and the Pain Key Messages are utilized to induce behavioral change.
