Gordon Ryan, the 2019 ADCC Double Champion, demonstrates his signature back take series, systematically deconstructing the turtle position. Gordon Ryan has gained a reputation for accessing his opponents’ backs and executing fight-ending strangles, even against top-tier competitors. Out of his eight victories at ADCC, five were achieved through strangles from the back. Gordon, along with the entire team led by Professor John Danaher, is renowned for their methodical grappling approach, which is both easy to comprehend and incredibly precise.
This series offers viewers valuable insights into Gordon’s mind as he navigates through sparring sessions, showcasing his turtle system. Gordon Ryan, a grappler hailing from New Jersey (USA) and a member of the renowned Danaher Death Squad (DDS), has made a mark in jiu-jitsu’s no-gi and submission-only circuit. He has defeated prominent figures in the sport such as Alexandre Ribeiro, Romulo Barral, and Gabriel Arges. As a submission-oriented competitor, Gordon solidified his position as one of the top brown belts globally in 2015 by winning the Newaza Challenge and No-Gi World Championship. This achievement led to his black belt promotion under Garry Tonon, making him Tonon’s first-ever student to attain this rank. This responsibility was shared with another of Gordon’s coaches, John Danaher.
